In the entirety of the Thomas and Friends series, one of the most heavily utilized multi-use buildings is inarguably the long workmen’s hut created during the second series. For this project my goal was to create the handy building using CAD design, 3D printing, and plastic sheets. While its long size was challenging when it came to printing, I couldn’t be more thrilled with how this building turned out!

Making of: Workmen’s Hut

The workmen's hut's screen used prop (season 8 condition)

My CAD design of the workmen's hut. Note: the building is completely symmetrical, thus, only the walls needed for printing were created (hence why the design appears incomplete)

The hut's walls after printing

First I glued the longer segments together - they were printed in individual parts due to being over a foot long

Then I assembled the main structure

After adding roof tile plastic sheets and painting the building, it was complete!
